Joan is the the owner of MindBodySpeech, a speech therapy private practice where she strives to improve communication by combining evidence-based practice with a variety of mind/body interventions.
Joan received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Marquette University and a Master’s degree in speech-language pathology from Rush University. She has over 25 years of experience evaluating and treating speech, language & cognitive disorders in clients of all ages. Joan has spent her career working in home care, schools, hospitals and a variety of other clinical settings working to improve the communication skills of her clients. During this time, she has expanded her understanding of the importance of nutrition, mindfulness and movement on cognitive processes including speech and language. She was thrilled to become a certified Talk Yoga instructor where she learned how to integrate specific yoga poses into her therapy practice.  Joan uses Talk Yoga  to improve speech sound disorders, receptive and expressive language impairments, social language disorders and executive function disorders.She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association and is a New Jersey licensed speech pathologist.
